Fair Use

This is my infographic on Ethical fair use regarding copyright law and the use of digital resources.

In the creation of this resource, I wanted to ensure the
graphic was clear and easy to understand by using
short explanations, headings, and visual icons to support
the written information.

I also separated the information into to different sections

so viewers could quickly progress from the definition
and intro of Fair Dealing to the categories of fair dealing, and
important terms.

The consistent colour palette and large headings help guide
the reader’s attention and high contrast colours make the
content easy to read and visually appealing.

The layout was designed to move from left to right, up and down beginning with the introduction to fair use and fair dealing before moving into key terms and the categories of fair dealing.

I placed the categories in a grid format so each section was evenly organised and visually balanced as well as intuitively guiding the viewer to where I wanted them to look next.

Important reminders and definitions were placed in coloured boxes on the sides to stand out and reinforce major concepts and definitions.

My design choices improved the effectiveness of the
infographic by combining simple visuals with concise text.

Quickly recognisable Icons such as books and a judge’s
gavel made the categories easier to recognise and
remember.

The use of colour contrast between the
background, headings, and information boxes also
helped important information stand out without
overwhelming the viewer.

The major challenge with any infographic is fitting a large amount of information onto one page without making it look crowded.

To solve this, reducing long explanations into shorter summaries and precise usage of negative space between sections improves readability.

Another challenge is the balance between visual interest and simplicity.

Using differing sizes of shapes and texts creates visual interest whilst using a consistent colour pallet and one continuous font helps to give an overall feel of simplicity and legibility.
